is the title of my novel, and it is coming out next week, on Thursday.
I will be having two book launches, one in Langton’s in Kilkenny on Thursday 18th, and another in London at the London Review Bookshop on Tuesday 23rd, if you would like to come to either or both just drop me a line. (I got married in Langton’s, and my first editorial job in publishing was on Bloomsbury Square so these locations feel very apt).
I’ll be at the Pavilion Theatre this Wednesday in Dun Laoghaire for a wonderful event with Sheila Armstrong, Anne Enright and Edel Coffey. Tickets for that are here.
I’m also doing a mini UK-tour. Details here:
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like having your book come out, it’s a bit like catching a reflection of yourself in the mirror from an odd and maybe unflattering angle. People will see things in the book that you didn’t know you put there. People will read the book in a way that projects their understanding of the world confidently on it. (“This book is about XXXXX”). We all bring our preoccupations to bear on everything we encounter, this is one of the ‘themes’ of the novel actually . . . but I don’t think it’s up to the author to tell readers its themes. So I will stop writing now. If you do read it, I hope you enjoy it.
Congratulations Niamh! I look forward to my pre-ordered audio copy dropping into my library.
